A competitive, but unlucky weekend for Birel ART at the World Championships
A competitive, but unlucky competitive season finale for Birel ART Racing: some collisions and penalties affected results in both classes. Andrea Rosso (Junior) finished the Final in 16th place. Andrea: "It was a really exciting and difficult weekend, both physically and mentally. I should be proud and happy, but I am slightly bitter because I had the potential to achieve a fantastic result. I was shrewd in the heats and had an excellent Pre-Final, managing to finish third. Unfortunately, the Final was compromised after I went off the track on the second lap, but I was still quick and managed a good comeback. I learnt a lot and hope to build on this experience in the future". Caio Collet failed to qualify for the Final due to a 10-second penalty for overtaking when the yellow flags were out in his Pre-Final: "We were very quick right away, but my mistake in qualifying compromised the weekend. We managed some fast laps in the heats, but the bumper proved to be a big issue for us. It is not the best way to end the season, but we must learn from our mistakes. We will come back stronger next year!" Michael d'Orlando failed to qualify for the Final stage: "It was my first time at the CIK-FIA World Championships and it was a great experience and a fantastic event. Unfortunately, the results did not match expectations: we were quick in the practices, but we made mistakes in qualifying, the heats were compromised by two penalties for the front fairing and I was pushed off the track several times. Nevertheless, we showed great progress during the week".

Two retirements and an exclusion in the heats meant Matej Kacovsky failed to qualify for the Pre-Final: "I am disappointed by my results: it was the worst race of my life. Before qualifying, we were heading in the right direction, but then I had not the right feeling and I made mistakes. The track is very different from the others, very nice and modern, but the amount of sand on the surface was a problem. I promise that there won't be another race as difficult as this one in the future".
World Championships on home soil for Talal Beshara: "We didn't manage to get the result we were after because of two accidents in the heats, but overall it was a good weekend. I gained a lot of experience and improved a lot. It was very exciting to compete among the 100 best drivers in the world".
In OK, Martijn van Leeuwen finished 24th following a 10-second penalty for the front fairing: "It's been a difficult weekend. At the beginning, we struggled to find the ideal set-up because the track conditions were always changing, but we improved in every session. On the first lap in the Final another driver hit me and it compromised my performance and ability to achieve a good result".
Due to a 10-second penalty for the front fairing, Jordon Lennox-Lamb was demoted from tenth to 20th position in his Pre-Final: "It was not the world championship I was expecting. It's been a difficult season, so I was hoping to finish on a high, like last year, but we were unlucky and were unable to achieve our goals".
Rickard Kaell, Technical Director: "Contacts and penalties affected our drivers' final results. Nevertheless, I am pleased with our performances because we proved we have the potential to compete at the top in both classes. The world championships are the races with the highest level of competitiveness in the world and all the members of the team did a great job, improving a lot throughout the weekend".
