Goodwood Kartways / Intrepid Canada ECKC Trois-Rivieres Report
The Eastern Canadian Karting Championship travelled to Quebec a week ago to contest the third round of the 2011 Championship and once again Intrepid drivers produced an incredible
weekend feat. At the opening round doubleheader, Intrepid drivers produced a podium run in six different classes, and at Karting Trois-Rivieres they did the exact same thing - despite having just one ECKC race day, and nearly hit the podium in all seven classes in action!

It really is a testament to the full line of Intrepid chassis that we are able to consistently
accomplish top results across the full range of Rotax classes, said Goodwood Kartways /
Intrepid Canada Team Manager Marco Di Leo. Intrepid Canada has worked closely with the
Intrepid factory team to help create the ideal 2011 chassis line-up, and even closer with Nigel
Horner from HRS Racing Engines. I am confident that we have the fastest Rotax packages on the
market, and the results so far certainly speak for themselves.

Two of seven total podiums came in Masters DD2, where Intrepid Quebec drivers Francis
Mondou and Dany St-Hilaire dominated the day. The pair were 1-2 in all three sessions, had
fastest lap both times in race action, and left little room for any other competitor as after crossing
right together they were over eleven seconds clear of third. The pair have been incredibly strong
in Masters DD2 since taking to the track in new Intrepids, and have now scored nine podiums
between them in just five race starts. Mondou put the first Intrepid Quebec win on the board in
Saturdays Quebec Championship race, and St-Hilaire put the second on the board with a win on
Sunday. To say the least, Mondou is very happy with his new race team, and the Intrepid race
packages his drivers have under them.

Its been even better than I had hoped for, he said in summarizing the year-to-date for Intrepid
Quebec. The chassis is easy to adjust and you dont get penalized if you are on the wrong setup
when conditions change. We have been fast in rain, half rain, and in the dry. We were close to
winning at Goodwood and ICAR, but we really found our peak on Sunday at Trois-Rivieres.
One-Two on the podium, you cant ask for better!

Also on the podium in dominating fashion was Rotax Junior driver Jesse Lazare. After
comfortably taking pole in a twenty-six-kart field, Lazare was forced to start from the back
row owing to the way his radiator was taped up for wet conditions. The move just delayed
the inevitable, as the driver long known as a master of wet conditions was back to the front in
short order. He sliced his way forward to third in a twelve-lap prefinal - reaching the top ten in
just two laps - and after slotting second at the start of the final, waited for his Chapman-tuned
Intrepid to come in before taking the lead and running free. He set his best lap on ten, took the
lead on eleven, and was a second clear when checkers waived at fourteen. Fellow Junior Artem
Korolev was doing much the same, as after breaking a chain before turning a lap in qualifying
he, too, was starting at the back. Korolev was the ninth kart across the line in the prefinal, and
was fighting for a podium spot when he was forced to retire on lap thirteen.

Other podium runs came from Marco Di Leo, who maintains his Rotax Senior championship

lead as he bids for Team Canada 2011, Reid Arnold in DD2, Jacob Ewaniuk in Mirco-Max,
and Alexander Mankovski in Rotax Masters. Full team results can be seen below. The Eastern
Canadian Karting Championship resumes with races four and five June 25th at Mosport
International Karting.
